Have a look at the following. It shows a Cavlier with SM (syringomyelia) so sad.

Puppy farming is big business in Ireland and has been shown time and time again to be a cruel, greedy, under regulated area. There are more than enough wonderful rescue dogs out their and I can’t fathom why people insist on promoting this unscrupulous industry and buy ‘pedigree dogs.’

Unfortunately in many cases people don’t realise they are buying from a puppy farmer. People believe that just because the puppy is IKC registered it is above board, but this is not always the case unfortunately. A breeder offering to meet you half way when collecting the puppy is a sure sign that something is amiss and should be avoided at all costs.

In forty years training/working/showing dogs this has been the best TV docu. ever – should be repeated many times over. There are probably several more programmes within the many hours of film it took to make this one documentary. Shame on the so called ‘professional’ breeders who, so obviously, breed for profit without regard to the breeds long term health. There is an onus on us humans (the so called intelligent race) to put right the wrongs we have inflicted on dog breeds over the past hundred years. If the Kennel Clubs around the world are not prepared to move on the matter then I suggest dog owners start an alternative Kennel club. The Kennel Clubs are not the final authority on dog breeds and standards, its us owners and breeders! All dog owners should lobby RTE to buy this programme and repeat every week for the next year!
