I was really interested in your report about the new technique in in suturing after spaying and agree that it is a great step forward in ensuring the dogs are more comfortable after surgery. However, I would be greatly interested to hear any comments regarding some procedure - for example a tattoo close to belly button - being done at the same time which would indicate that a bitch has been spayed. While it is easy to know if a dog is neutered, it is not the same for bitches and is causing problems/concerns in some Animal Sanctuaries who routinely spay/neuter their rescue animals. Ultra Sound does not confirm spaying has been carried out, scars fade, and I know that on occasions evidence of a previous spay has only come to light AFTER the bitch has undergone an anaesthetic and surgical procedure.
